Scholarships Available to Seniors
Penn Wood Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship will be presented to two graduating seniors in 2025. Applicants must be cleared for graduation by a guidance counselor. Applicants must be pursuing higher education at a certified college, university, technical school or military service. Scholarship< funds must be used by or before February 2026 or the award/balance will be forfeited.
Applicant must submit 2 video/audio submissions answering the following:
- Based on your experience within the William Penn School District and your involvement in clubs and student organizations, how have your academic and extracurricular experiences shaped your personal and educational goals? What specific improvements or new programs would you implement to enhance after-school clubs and organizations for future Penn Wood students?
- Many students benefit from the support of teachers, mentors, and school programs. Describe a time when someone in the school district made a difference in your life. How do you plan to pay that kindness forward to future students?

Penn Wood Foundation Vito C. Macri Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is being funded by the Macri Family. This scholarship is being awarded to a graduating senior who demonstrates the following characteristics: hard-working, ability to overcome hardship, helpful to family and friends, and is pursuing continued education in any trade, photography or technology. The scholarship recipient will receive $1,000 for higher education expenses and access to the Macri family’s life experiences, education, armed services background and professional connections to provide mentoring, if the recipient so chooses.

Penn Wood Foundation Thomas and Jane Clark Memorial Scholarship.
This scholarship is being funded by Domenick Macri who was a close friend of Thomas and Jane Clark. Mr. Macri credits Tom and Jane with pushing him to think beyond his station in life, abilities and set higher expectations for himself while providing encouragement and support throughout his educational journey. The scholarship recipient will receive $500 for higher education expenses and access to Mr. Macri’s life experience, education, work experience and professional connections to provide mentoring, if the recipient so chooses.

Penn Wood Foundation Julian V. Falana Business Scholarship
Given by Julian Falana, a business teacher at Penn Wood High School. This scholarship will be presented to two graduating seniors who have taken either Business Law or Entrepreneurship, and have achieved an 80 average or higher in either course and are looking to pursue continued education in business, implement a business plan submitted in class, and/or invest the funds.

Penn Wood Foundation Danielle N. Seward Memorial Scholarship
The Danielle N. Seward Memorial scholarship was developed to continue her commitment to the aspirations of equity and social justice in education, and student services. Danielle would often ask the question, “But is this action helping our students?” It was her belief that every activity in which we participated throughout the day should be for the benefit of our student population. We should have the foresight to believe in our “sacred duty” to develop tomorrow’s leaders.
Applicant requirements:
- Enrollment: Must be a current Penn Wood High School student accepted as a first year Freshman at West Chester University in Chester County, PA, majoring in the fields of education, social work, or counseling.
- Grade Level: 12th grade, Graduating Penn Wood high school senior.
- Academic Performance: Minimum 2.8 GPA or higher.
- Course Load: Full time course load.
- Essay: To apply, the student must write a 500 word essay focused on social justice and society, highlighting personal experiences with inequality. Explain how these experiences motivated the student’s interest in pursuing studies and a career in education, counseling or social work. Detail future goals to address systemic issues, aiming to create a more equitable society.
